For apprentices

How do I apply for a job?

Open the job listing and click Apply now. You can add a short cover note (or save a default in your profile to prefill it). Employers see your name, bio, location, experience, tickets, and resume.

Do I need to upload a resume?

No, but applications without one often get skipped. Upload a PDF in your profile (max 5 MB). Only employers you've applied to can download it.

How do job alerts work?

In your profile, set New-job alerts to Daily or Weekly. We email you up to 10 newest jobs matching your industries and state.

For finer control, save searches from /browse-jobs — alerts then include matches for any saved search too.

Can I withdraw an application?

Yes — go to My applications and click Withdraw. You can only withdraw while it's still pending. Once an employer has viewed or shortlisted it, withdrawal isn't available.

What's a public profile?

Optional. When turned on (in your profile), your name, bio, industries, experience, and tickets are visible at a public URL you can share — e.g. 1apprentice.com.au/p/your-name. Email, phone, and resume stay private. Turn it off anytime.

How do I delete my account?

In your profile, scroll to Your data → Delete my account. Type your email to confirm. Everything is permanently removed: profile, applications, messages, saved jobs, resume, portfolio.

What is "Let employers find and contact you"?

An opt-in setting on your profile. When on, approved employers searching for candidates for a specific job they've posted can find your profile — but only if their job is in your state and matches one of your industry interests. They can then message you directly about that job. Default is off. You can turn it on or off any time, and you can block or report anyone.

For employers

Why do I need an ABN to sign up?

ABN verification lets us confirm you're a real Australian business. We check it against the Australian Business Register automatically, then manually review new employer accounts before your first job can go live.

How long does approval take?

Usually within a business day. You can browse the site while you wait. We'll email you once approved.

How long do my job listings stay up?

30 days. You'll get an email reminder 2–4 days before a listing expires; one click renews it for another 30. Stale listings auto-expire so the board stays fresh.

Can I see how many people viewed my job?

Yes — on /my-listings click Analytics on any listing. You'll see total views, applications, apply rate, and a 30-day daily-view sparkline.

How do I review applicants?

Open /applications. Each card shows the applicant's profile snapshot (location, experience, tickets) + their cover note. Click View profile for the full detail, or Resume to download. Update status from the dropdown; the applicant gets an email when you shortlist or reject.

You can also add a private note per applicant (only you see it) and use bulk actions to shortlist or reject multiple at once.

Can I save message replies for reuse?

Yes — in your profile, add up to 5 message templates. They appear as chips above the compose bar in any conversation; click to insert.

How do I find apprentices for a job I've posted?

On /my-listings, click Find candidates on any active job. We'll show apprentices in your job's state whose industry interests include your job's category, and who've opted in to being found. You can narrow by experience, availability, and tickets, then send a direct message about the job.

Cold contact is limited to 10 messages per day per employer, and only goes to apprentices who've opted in via their profile. They can block or report you.

Account & email

How do I stop getting emails?

Click the Unsubscribe link in the footer of any email we send — no login required. Or toggle off Email me about activity in your profile.

I can't log in / I'm stuck in a redirect loop.

Clear your site data and try again. If it persists, your authentication session may have expired or your browser is blocking third-party cookies — try a different browser or contact us.

I've been blocked / want to report someone.

You can report any job, message, or user from the "Report" link on the relevant page. Reports go to our moderation queue. Blocking a user from the message header prevents either party from contacting the other.
